Done deal. Rafael Leão is the new signing of AC Milan. The Rossoneri hired the Portuguese striker, who played in Lille last season, and the athlete signed a five-year deal. The reported fee paid by Milan is 35 million euros.

Leão moved from Sporting last season to Lille after the ultras of Sporting CP had invaded the academy of the club. In conflict with the latter, Lille took advantage and didn’t need to pay any fee for the youngster. Rafael played 26 matches for the French vice-champion and scored 8 goals, being one of the most preeminent figures of the team. He was also part of the Portugal team that was in Poland for the World Cup Under 20 this Summer.

This is the third new signing of Milan, after Krunic from Empoli and Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid. Leão arrives for the place of Cutrone, who was announced yesterday in Wolverhampton, and Milan might also sell Andre Silva too before the end of the transfer window. Rafael will partner with Piatek upfront, with the Rossoneri expecting to join Angel Correa to the team soon.

According to the French press, besides paying that sum for Leão, Milan also sent the young defender Tiago Djalo in the opposite direction. Also, from Portuguese nationality, Djalo played last season in the youth squads of the red and black, where he made 18 appearances. He is probably having now a chance to play first-team football in Lille.

To replace Rafael Leao, Lille announced the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. The 20 year old arrives from Wolfsburg, after having been loaned to Belgian side Charleroi last season. Victor costed a sum of €12M and he scored 20 goals in 36 appearances last season: an important addition for the return of the French team to the Champions League.

AC Milan who finished 6th last season is not competing in the Europa League, due to financial fair play. The team will try to improve their place from last season in their league. The competition starts on the 25th of August. Consult the Serie A schedule and the Serie A table for more info.
