Premier League Deadline Day: Arsenal gets Tierney & Luiz; Tottenham Sessegnon & Lo Celso

Happy Premier League Deadline Day. The English top-flight closes its transfer window on this Thursday, 8th of August. Tomorrow, the Premier League schedule starts kicking.

17:30 A bit past the time, but EVERTON ANNOUNCE IWOBI

It was a rumor throughout the last hours of deadline day, but it was only made official about half an hour after the closing time. Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, changed Arsenal colors for Everton, on a move that included an initial fee of £28m, possibly going to £34m in add-ons.

Iwobi was in the Emirates since he was 19 and he made 149 appearances with the North London club, during which he scored 17 goals and made 27 assists.

He becomes the last signing of the Merseyside Blues, who secured also Moise Kean from Juventus, Gbamin from Mainz 05 and World Cup winner Sidibe on loan from Monaco.

17:05 A few minutes after the window closes, ARSENAL ANNOUNCES DAVID LUIZ

Desperately needing a center back, Arsenal sealed the last deal of the transfer window and they probably made the most buzzing one. 32-year-old central defender, David Luiz, who was playing for 3 straight seasons for neighbors Chelsea, signed for the Gunners

The North Londoners have apparently paid a fee of €10M. David Luiz will be another option for Unai Emery, after the departure of Koscielny to Bordeaux.

16:58 Leicester City makes a deadline deal: Dennis Praet arrives

The Foxes have a new player in town. Dennis Praet arrived in the last minutes of the transfer window, from Serie A club Sampdoria. The 25-year-old midfielder, who rose through Anderlecht academy, signed with Sampdoria in 2016.

A Belgium international, Praet will be another midfielder alongside Tielemans for Brendan Rodgers. He arrives for €21M.

16:56 Tottenham announces another signing: Ryan Sessegnon

Deadline day has been a rollercoaster for Tottenham fans. After the deal with Dybala failed, Spurs have finished in the last minutes of the window a loan deal for Lo Celso.

Just minutes later, they also announced the 27M deal with Fulham for Ryan Sessegnon. The winger signed for the next four seasons.

16:52 Giovanni Lo Celso arrives at Tottenham

Another deal that was being negotiated throughout the Summer, Giovanni Lo Celso is finally a Tottenham player. The attacking midfielder from Betis signed on loan from Betis for £16M with an option to buy.

After Betis signed Nabil Fekir, the deal got easier and Tottenham got some leverage to negotiate.

16:49 Kieran Tierney signs for Arsenal

After a couple of weeks of negotiations, Arsenal finally sealed the deal with left-back Kieran Tierney. The Scottish left-back played for Celtic Glasgow all his career and arrives in Arsenal at 22 years of age. He signs for a fee of £25M.

16:30 Aaron Mooy arrives in Brighton Hove & Albion on loan

The Australian winger returns to Premier League, after being relegated with Huddersfield Town. Brighton joins Mooy to Matt Ryan, being the only Premier League side to have two Australian players in their squad.

16:20 Manchester City signs Pedro Porro

A last-minute signing by City, accounted with the injury of Leroy Sane, who will be out of the pitches until 2020. Pedro Porro played in relegated La Liga side Girona as an attacking midfielder.

UPDATE: Porro was loaned to Real Valladolid, going back to La Liga for the 2019/20 season.

16:05 Andy Carroll joins Newcastle on a one year deal

A free agent since his contract finished with West Ham, Carroll joins the Magpies after leaving it 8 years ago. Since then, Carroll player for West Ham and before Liverpool.

Plagued by injuries, the now 30 year old never completely succeed both in Anfield and in London. The forward returns to St. James Park to pair up with Joelinton upfront.

14:19 Eddie Nkietah joins Leeds on loan from Arsenal

The young forward will spend a season in the Championship, under Marcelo Bielsa, to get experience.

13:23 Watford announce Ismaila Sarr

One of the breakout stars of Ligue 1 table last season, the Senegalese Ismaila Sarr joined the Hornets today. Watford announced the deal with Stade Rennais in the afternoon of the deadline day and the right-winger will join for an undisclosed fee.

After signing yesterday Welbeck on a free transfer, Watford might have made one of the best deals of the Summer window. Sarr played 77 games for Rennes, scoring 18 goals and making 16 assists.

He was a finalist of the African Cup of Nations this Summer with Senegal. Sarr has also helped Rennes to win the French Cup last season.

Edit: Sarr joined Watford for a fee of 30,00 M € which is a record transfer fee for the club.

13:19 Charlie Austin leaves Southampton and joins West Brom.

The 30-year-old striker, who severely underperformed last season, with 2 goals in 25 appearances left the Saints. He will play in Championship with West Brom.

13:12 Winger Ryan Sessegnon will move to Tottenham today.

According to multiple sources, the deal with the British winger, who played in Fulham last season, is done. He should be announced within a few hours.


12:53 Stoke City announce the loan Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspurs.

The defender will join the Potters this season, after a loan last season in Swansea.

11:30 Brighton & Hove Albion announce Romaric Yapi.

The youngster, who is just 19 years old, is a defender and he will join initially Brighton’s U23 squad.

11:03 Newcastle announces Emil Krafth.

The 25-year-old Swedish full-back, played on loan at Amiens last season, in Ligue 1. He was part of Bologna’s ranks since 2015 and now he becomes Steve Bruce 4th signing. The fee is still unknown.

11:00 Southampton announces a new contract for winger Nathan Redmond.

The English international has signed a four-year deal, until 2023.

10:52 Tottenham deal for Dybala is apparently OFF.

The London club was keen on signing the Argentinian forward from Juventus, but the Italian club decided to keep the player and refuse the move.

10:29 John McGinn signs a new five-year contract with Aston Villa.

Voted Fans’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season, the Scottish international was signed last season and had a tremendous season at the Park.

10:04 Arsenal is on the verge of signing David Luiz. The Chelsea midfielder is apparently keen on a move to North London and the Gunners will pay £8m, €10M. The Gunners are also hoping to finish a deal with fullback Kieran Tierney, from Celtic Glasgow.

10:02 Bristol City announce Adam Nagy.

The second tier team signed the international Hungarian midfielder, from Bologna. Allegedly, Bristol paid Bologna €2.5m.

9:49West Ham announce Albian Ajeti.

The Swiss striker, from FC Basel, arrives at the London club for an undisclosed fee. West Ham, who lost Marko Arnautovic to China this Summer, have signed also French striker Haller, from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ajeti, who has also Albanian nationality, made 96 appearances for FC Basel and secured 43 goals. He is 22 years old and has 7 caps for the Switzerland national team.
